ED KURTZ | PRESIDENT
Ed has been president of the board since his late wife, Suzanne founded LMSDR in 2005. He has been owner and partner of a CPA firm and various businesses from 1968 to 2000. As an account and attorney, Ed’s financial guidance has been the corner stone of the foundation’s success. Ed lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma with his new wife, Denice Brice Kurtz.
JANICE GILBERT RUSHTON
Janice is a Physician Assistant who works in oncology as a sub investigator of clinical trials with targeted chemotherapies in Detroit. She practiced law for 21 years prior to returning to school for a master’s degree in physician assistant studies. As a lawyer, she counseled healthcare facility staffing and home health care staffing entities. She is the surviving spouse of Kevin Rushton who was diagnosed with LMS in April 2009 (right hip tumor) and died in October 2012. She wants to improve public and medical community awareness of LMS and generate more resources to fund research for early diagnosis, effective treatment, and caregiver support.
DENICE BRICE KURTZ | SECRETARY
Denice has extensive experience as an administrative assistant and account manager as well as helped coordinated and raised funds for nonprofits such as Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Meals on Wheels and more. She has served on numerous boards: Alzheimer’s Association, Leadership Tulsa, Junior League of Tulsa,The Center for Persons with Disabilities, Alzheimer’s Association Tulsa Town Hall and Leadership Tulsa.
Janine is a six-time Emmy nominated television writer / producer who lives in New York City where she’s also an adjunct professor at NYU Tisch School of Dramatic Writing. Janine is an avid researcher who’s committed to helping LMSdr fund research, support those affected by the disease, and tame the dragon. Her writing partner and best friend was diagnosed with LMS in March 2014.
OFIR GABAY | TREASURER
Ofir is an accountant who owns his own tax business in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He is a Certified Quickbooks Pro Advisor and has experience working with large Non-Profit organizations. Ofir lost his mother, Naomi Gabay to LMS in 2015.
